The Institute for Catholic Schools hosted a gathering for current and former Catholic School Teacher Scholarship (CSTS) recipients on June 11.

“This gathering underscored the importance of unity and support within our educational family,” said Robert DiNardo, Director, Institute for Catholic Schools. “It provided an opportunity for scholarship recipients to forge new relationships and strengthen existing ones. They were able to engage with the institute’s board, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.”

The evening began with a Mass in St. Thomas More Church on St. John’s University’s Queens, NY, campus celebrated by Rev. Aiden R. Rooney, C.M., M.Div., M.Th. ’78NDC, Executive Vice President for Mission. Following the Mass, Fr. Rooney welcomed the group to the Vincentian residence.

The Institute for Catholic Schools plays a vital role in connecting St. John’s University with our P-12 Catholic school partners. It is always wonderful to come together at events like this to celebrate the next generation of Catholic school educators,” underscored James D. Wolfinger, Ph.D.,Dean, The School of Education.

The Catholic School Teacher Scholarship has a twofold objective: to support the academic excellence of Catholic schools by educating and retaining well-trained professionals, and to assist those who choose to work in Catholic schools as teachers or administrators with a more affordable means to pursue graduate degrees or advanced certificates.
